Salmo 29:11: “El Señor fortalece a su pueblo; el Señor bendice a su pueblo con la paz.”

My stomach hurt because I laughed so much. I had listened to a CD by the Christian comedian, Ken Davis.

Ken makes strange noises and transforms the ordinary into hysterical situations.

As I listened to Ken Davis’ antics, I laughed all the way to the grocery store and back. When I looked in the mirror, my eyes sparkled, and my face glowed. Yes, “A happy heart does make the face cheerful.” According to the Bible, happy means blessed. Ken’s humor blessed me.

So that I don’t forget to laugh each day, I watch comedies like the Bill Cosby Show and listen to CDs of humorous speakers like Ken Davis, Mikki Williams, and Luci Swindoll. Mikki says, “He who laughs lasts!” At the Women of Faith Conference, Luci quoted her grandmother and said, “A day is wasted if you don’t fall over in a heap laughing.” Mikki and Luci always bless me.

A lady I know listens to the Captain’s Club on the radio for the riddles. Her children are grown and married, but she enjoys the humor of the riddles. She demonstrates a cheerful face as she repeats the riddles to anyone who will listen.

Proverbs 15:15 says, “The cheerful heart has a continual feast.” The word, cheerful, means noticeably happy and optimistic. I’ll choose a feast over famine any day. I’ll do what is necessary to be noticeably happy and optimistic. What about you?

Dermatologists say that one of the ways to prevent wrinkles is to be happy. I say, “Away with the wrinkles! Be happy.”

When was the last time you laughed until your stomach hurt or you fell over in a heap laughing? What do you and your family do to have a happy heart?

Are you blessed? Does your face reflect a happy heart?

Dear God, help me have a happy heart. Amen.

El estómago me dolía porque reí tanto. Había escuchado un CD por el cómico cristiano, Ken Davis.

Ken hace ruidos extraños y transforma lo ordinario a situaciones histéricas.

Al escuchar las travesuras de Ken Davis, reí todo el camino a la tienda de comestibles y a casa. Cuando me miré en el espejo, los ojos chispeaban, y la cara brillaba. Sí, “El corazón alegre se refleja en el rostro.” Según la Biblia, alegre quiere decir bendito. El humor de Ken me bendice.

Para que no me olvide de reír cada día, miro comedias como el programa de Bill Cosby y escucho CDs de hablantes chistosos como Ken Davis, Mikki Williams, y Luci Swindoll. Mikki dice, “El que ríe dura!” En la conferencia de Las Mujeres de Fé, Luci Swindoll cita a su abuela y dice, “Se malgasta un día si no se cae uno en un montón de risa.” Mikki y Luci siempre me bendicen.

Una señora que conozco escucha el programa del Club del Capitán en la radio para oír las adivinanzas. Sus hijos ya son adultos y están casados, pero a ella le gusta el humor de las adivinanzas. Ella demuestra un rostro alegre al repetir las adivinanzas a cualquiera persona que la escucha.

Proverbios 15:15 dice, “Para el que es feliz siempre es día de fiesta.” La palabra, feliz, quiere decir notablemente alegre y optimístico. Yo escogeré un día de fiesta en vez de uno de hambre. Haré lo que es necesario para estar notablemente alegre y optimística, ¿y tú?

Los dermatológos dicen que una de las maneras de impedir las arrugas es estar alegre. Yo digo, “¡Adios, arrugas! Seas alegre.”

¿Cuándo era la última vez que reíste hasta que te dolía el estómago o hasta que te caíste en un montón de risa? ¿Qué hacen tú y tu familia para tener un corazón alegre?

¿Estás alegre? ¿Refleja tu rostro un corazón alegre?

Amado Dios, ayúdame a tener un corazón alegre. Amén.

As I get older, I don’t have the strength I once had. Can you identify with me? I used to clean the entire house in an hour and a half. I would dust, vacuum, clean the bathrooms, and mop the floors. With a half hour more, I would get the laundry done too.

My strength seems to have diminished. Now I clean two rooms a day. By the time I finish cleaning the house, it’s time to start over.

A friend of mine is married to a retired military man. They recently moved from a large home in VA to an apartment in Florida. She feels overwhelmed with the boxes. I reminded her that she’s not as young as she used to be and moving is hard work.

And yet God says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Will we believe him? Will we continue to be weary and weak, or will we accept his strength and power?

God states the truth in verse 30, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.” One time at an amusement park, I asked my son if he was tired. He said he wasn’t. However, when we sat down to watch a show, he fell asleep. He didn’t wake up until the next morning when we were back home.

For strength and power, I will continue to hope in the Lord. He will help me get up day after day and keep going in this world.

Dear God, I feel weary and weak today. Amen.

Al envejecer, no tengo la fuerza que antes tenía. Entiendes lo que te digo, ¿verdad? Antes limpiaba la casa entera en una hora y media. Desempolvaba, pasaba el aspirador, y limpiaba los baños y los pisos. Con media hora más, lavaba la ropa también.

Mis fuerzas parecen estar disminuidos. Ahora limpio dos cuartros al día. Cuando ya termino de limpiar la casa, es hora de empezar otra vez.

Una amiga mía está casada con un hombre militar retirado. Recientemente se mudaron de una casa grande en Virginia a un apartamento en la Florida. Ella se siente inundada con las cajas. La dije que ella ya no es tan joven como antes y mudar es trabajo duro.

Y aún Dios dice que “Él fortalece al cansado y acrecienta las fuerzas del débil.” ¿Lo creeremos? ¿Continuaremos a estar cansados y débiles, o aceptaremos su fortaleza y fuerza?

Dios declara la verdad en versículo 30, “Aun los jóvenes se cansan, se fatigan, y los muchachos tropiezan y caen.” Una vez en un parque de atracciones, le pregunté a mi hijo si estaba cansado. Dijo que no. Sin embargo, cuando nos sentamos a mirar una función, se durmió. No se despertó hasta la próxima mañana cuando ya estábamos en casa.

Para la fortaleza y la fuerza, continuaré a confiar en el Señor. Él me ayudará a levantarme día tras día y continuar en este mundo.

Amado Dios, me siento cansado (a) y débil hoy. Amén.
